The Jaguar colloid mill (WV or WH Series) is a highspeed, high-shear mixer capable of batch or in-line processing. Although a "colloid mill" is commonly considered a particle destruction unit. It is actually a dispersion piece of equipment. This machine will blend, emulsify, de-agglomerate and produce a thorough wetting of dispersed substances resulting in a completely homogeneous product. Like the pipeline mixer, the colloid mill utilizes a high-speed rotor spinning in close proximity to a fixed stator.
It operates successfully for products which must be ground & well dispersed. It disintegrates particles faster & uniform swiveling without forming agglomerates & homogenizes products in one pass. The Mill develops not only hydraulic high pressure in the grinding tool section, but turbulence & cavitations which when combined provide both a gentle grinding & the required impact, squeezing, cutting etc. This effects the homogenizing of products & wetting out of powders, all in one pass. The centrifugal force of the rotor brings the material inside the mill. The rotor & stator combination with its exceptional large surface area provides both a gentle grinding & the required impact effect. A three way valve at the discharge connection of the Colloid Mill can either provide material to inlet opening for rework or discharge the processed material.

The material is placed into the mill though the inlet hopper. It is then passed through the narrow gap between the rotor and stator and thus reduced the fine particle size. A colloid mill is a hydraulic shear producing device. The colloid mill works to reduce the size of the suspended droplets. The mill allows the solid particles to become so small.
The process of colloid milling is done through the addition of the heavier liquid into the chamber of the mill that performs the shearing process. Once the heavier liquid has been added the lighter material whether it is a solid mass or a liquid of different viscosity is added to the material to start the mill. When the milling portion of the function takes place, the materials are both stirred together within the mill at a high rate of speed.
